This raises the question: Are you ready to handle what you don’t know in the upcoming tax season? We developed a list of highly rated tax reference apps to help you quickly look up information that you may not know off the top of your head. Ask a CPA: This app offers an archive, housing the answers to thousands of tax and accounting questions. It is searchable by category, including various forms, tax credits, tax rates and more. It is available, free on Apple and Android devices. IRS2Go app: While this IRS app is known by taxpayers for its refund status function, it also offers helpful tax tips, YouTube videos and a way to connect with the IRS’ social media channels. This free app is available in English and Spanish on Apple and Android devices. TouchTax app: TouchTax is an app for Apple and Google tablets and phones that, according to their site, “contains all sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and the annual edition of the Treasury Regulations.” TouchTax also includes up-to-date versions of the Internal Revenue Bulletins, Revenue Procedures, Revenue Rulings and Notices, a full copy of Circular 230, and more.” While reviews for the app are generally positive, this is the only app on the list that does have a fee to download. I hope one or more of these apps proves helpful to you in this upcoming tax season, whether you need a quick resource in your office, on the go or with clients. Leave a note below and let us know how these apps worked for you, or if you know of any other helpful tax reference apps that should be added to our list.
