Hosting a website for your practice can significantly boost your business by helping potential clients find you and learn about your practice. There are many options for launching and maintaining a website. Consider these tips: Choose a website host. Though building a website isn’t for everyone, there are many tools that small businesses can use to launch websites of their own, without the need of a web developer. Wix, Squarespace and WordPress are all companies that specialize in making web publishing easy for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience. Choose a template that is fitting for your audience. Think about the clients you serve: Do you serve primarily business clients, individuals or both? Now, think about the services you offer: are you focusing on bookkeeping and tax? The focus of your website and template should reflect your company offerings and the audiences you serve. When choosing a template, also consider the devices on which your clients may be accessing your website. For example, a mobile-friendly website is something that will offer your clients a better experience, if they navigate to your website while on the go. Plan the structure of your website, which pages you need to create and what content you need to include. Think about the pages and information you want to include and how to best organize it. An easy way to start is by listing the topics you want to cover. Consider these pages to start with: Home Services (with or without pricing) About (information about staff, how you got started and values) Contact/firm location Client testimonials Select visual elements and content that will appeal to your audience. An important aspect is selecting multimedia that will appeal to your audience. Also, consider adding your own videos for higher engagement. Optimize your website with SEO. Search engine optimization (SEO) will help your website rank higher, when prospects and clients search relevant keywords for your business – for example, your location and “tax firm.” To learn how to optimize your online presence, read our helpful hints on SEO on our Intuit® ProConnect™ Tax Pro Center article “Improving the Online Presence of Your Tax Practice.“ Creating a website can be a time-consuming task, but hopefully I’ve given you a few things to consider with these tips so that you can start building a site and growing your practice.
